About Karmo (Karmen)
Karmen’s creative path began the moment she could hold a pencil—sketching horses, Snoopy, and even Ziggy (a charming nod to her era, she laughs). Art was her first language of wonder, a place where imagination ran free and learning something new always felt like an adventure.
Life, however, tested her strength in ways she never expected. After losing her first husband, Karmen struggled to find her footing and slipped into years of drinking as a way to cope. It was a long, hard chapter—one that could have ended her story. But heroes rise, even if slowly, and often with the help of someone who believes in them. For Karmen, that person was the man who would become her husband, her biggest supporter, and the one who reminded her that her spark was still alive.
With his encouragement, she began painting simple rocks—tiny canvases that quietly rekindled the fire inside her. What started as a small creative outlet transformed into a powerful return to herself. Those little stones became stepping-stones, leading her back to passion, purpose, and possibility.
Today, almost four years sober, Karmen is living a life rebuilt with courage, gratitude, and joy. Originally from Louisiana and now rooted in Alabama, she loves cooking Cajun dishes, laughing with her grandkids, and most of all—painting.
Her art is more than color on canvas. It is a testament to resilience, a reminder that strength can rise from the ashes, and an invitation for others to recognize the warrior within themselves. Through every brushstroke, Karmen hopes her work helps others see their own courage, their own power, and their own heroic story waiting to be claimed.
